One of the key indicators for good language teaching is the frequency of use of the target language - I really appreciated the minimal use of English en in the beginners calss. I thought that I might find 4 hours per day too much, that I might be "watching the clock". In fact, the time flew past and this is a testament to the preparation and hard work of the teachers.
I liked the size of the classes as this gives each person plenty of time/opportunity to speak. I appreciated the personal touch and felt that my needs were taken seriously by Wouter and the teachers. My first week was perfect and allowed me to make a good start. The second week was tough but both teachers were encouraging and were concerned that I was comfortable. I appreciated the extra home work that the teachers gave me to help fill in some gaps in my knowledge - this was also extra work for them.
Occasionally you hear about a private school that just wants to get money from its students - the opposite is true here. We felt that the value was excellent and the whole staff made us feel very welcome. We also thought that the value of the extra activities is very good. We really enjoyed the Bustamante family. Overall - Great experience. I look forward to using my new Spanish in the next 2 months. We´ll be back.

Anyone can build a website these days, but here at GLC, my wife and I had all of our expectations met or exceeded!
The teaching staff was attentive, organized and helpful. The family we met through the homestay option were in turn transportation guides teaching assistants, "local colour" commentator, cook (or rather, grand chef of regional specialties!) and concierge.
We felt comfortable, relaxed, and well looked after, all prequisites for providing a great learning environment !

"We have learned so much and had a wonderful time at GLC. We felt welcomed from the first. The teachers were both supportive and challenging; we appreciated how they personalized the material to be relevant to the students. The open use of internet was great. Our apartment was very comfortable and Douglas and Annaliz are the best of hosts! We love staying at the plaza, plus the restaurant has great food and is a great place to study and to meet people. "We learned a lot in a great atmosphere. The teachers were sensitive to the student's level and pace of learning. They also had a lot of knowledge about the country, its customs and history. The school staff was always on hand to answer questions about trips, the city, shopping ideas or whatever you could think of. We stayed with a Mexican homestay - a really nice way to practice your Spanish, get to know people and have a lot of fun. It definitely gives an extra dimension to your course. We had a great time and a lot of fun."

"Everyone at GLC, from the teachers to the program directors, has been extremely helpful. They were very willing to supply me with whatever information I needed, and if they didn't have the answer first-hand, they would research until they found one. I do not think there are any other language schools in Guadalajara that would be willing to take the same kind of effort needed to answer questions about grammar to find out what bus you should take or where you can get your laundry done. GLC is structured in such a way as to give each student individual support, something I appreciated very much as a lone traveler in a foreign country."

"This was an amazing experience. I met so many wonderful people and I feel really lucked out on my homestay. They are such a sweet family and I would recommend them to anyone who wishes to feel at home in a foreign country. I feel the Spanish program at GLC is highly effective because the teachers integrate grammar with conversation about interesting topics. The teachers encourage students to speak and participate in class using what they have learned by choosing appealing lecture topics, art, music, politics, movies and culture. The staff is very helpful and patient and the small class sizes are effective in creating progress in Spanish conversation building friendships and sharing experiences with people from all parts of the world"

"Our host family was wonderful. We are grateful for their meals, their interest in us and their willigness to show us the sights and help us find our way. The teachers were also very, very good in different ways. Though a week is a short time, both teachers made the time productive. "I was impressed at how willingly you guys accommodated me with a class that met my needs - almost exactly! It was really cool to have different teachers with unique methods and personalities. Not only did I improve my speaking avilities, I learned a lot about Mexican culture, literature and history - ¡Muy interesante! The small classes allowed for alot of opurtunities to practice conversation. Also, the "field trips" were great. Inexpensive and awesome for students to practiece speaking and listening to Spanish while learning more about Guadalajara. I had a wonderful experience at GLC. Amazing to have such a unique, exceptionally outstanding school! Much better than CEPE [University of Guadalajara School of Languages]! Seriously and much more affordable. I hope to be back this winter!

"I only have one other experience to compare this one to. By far this school outweighs the other. The courses were demanding yet not intimidating. Both teachers were excellent. I think it benefits the student to have different teachers. As a student I had the opportunity to spend concentrated amounts of time with native speakers who taught and spoke completely differently. I think it helped my ear become sharper."
